This policy explains what personal data HomeFix collects through the mobile app and this website, what we use it for and what rights you have. For any privacy question write to info@home-fix.site.

Who is responsible for your data

HomeFix is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Contact for privacy matters: info@home-fix.site.

HomeFix operates in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Portugal, and complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, EU Regulation 2016/679).

What data we collect

Data you give us:

  • name, email address and phone number when you create an account;
  • service categories, working area and experience description, if you create a professional profile;
  • the content of the tasks you post: description, photos, location, dates and indicative price;
  • messages exchanged in chat and reviews you leave;
  • the content of support requests you send us.

Data collected automatically:

  • device identifier, operating system and app version;
  • approximate location, to show professionals and tasks near you — only with your permission, revocable in your phone settings;
  • technical usage and error logs;
  • cookie data on this website, as described in the “Cookies” section.

We do not collect payment data. Payments are agreed and made directly between client and professional, outside HomeFix.

What we use the data for

  • connecting clients and professionals and showing relevant nearby tasks and profiles;
  • enabling communication between both sides and the review system;
  • sending notifications about new tasks, offers and messages;
  • answering support requests;
  • detecting and stopping fraud, abuse and breaches of the platform rules;
  • improving the product based on aggregated statistics.

Legal basis

  • Performance of a contract — to give you access to the platform and its features.
  • Consent — for location, notifications and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Legitimate interest — platform security, abuse prevention and service improvement.
  • Legal obligation — where the law requires us to retain or disclose information.

Who we share it with

HomeFix does not sell personal data.

  • With the other side of a task: when you reply to a task or accept an offer, your name, public profile and chat contact become visible to the other side — that is what lets you agree directly.
  • With technical providers: hosting, push notifications and usage analytics, always under a processing agreement and only as far as necessary.
  • With authorities: only where required by law or to defend legal rights.

Cookies and similar technologies

This website uses three categories of cookies:

  • Essential — store your chosen language and your cookie decision. The site does not work properly without them and they cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics — measure in aggregate which pages are visited, so we understand what to improve.
  • Marketing — allow advertising campaigns to be measured outside the site.

Analytics and marketing cookies are only set after your explicit consent in the banner. You can change your decision at any time through the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or by clearing site data in your browser.

How long we keep it

  • Account data: while the account exists and up to 12 months after closure.
  • Tasks, messages and reviews: up to 24 months after completion, for history and dispute resolution.
  • Support requests: 24 months.
  • Technical logs: up to 12 months.
  • Cookie consent: 12 months.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the data we hold about you and obtain a copy;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • delete your account and the associated data;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights write to info@home-fix.site. We reply within 30 days at most. If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), the supervisory authority in Portugal.

Security

We use encrypted connections, access control and data minimisation. No system is completely immune, so please use a strong password and avoid sharing sensitive data in chat.

Minors

HomeFix is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you know that a minor has created an account, tell us and we will remove the data.

International transfers

Data is processed within the European Economic Area. If any provider is outside the EEA, the transfer is made with the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date of the last update is at the top of the page and material changes will be announced in the app or by email.
